The Hui Mouth Harp is an instrument made by Hui artisans. It resembles the head of a cow or a little lamb, and is adorned with inlaid artistic patterns and lines unique to the Hui ethnic group, as well as engraved Arabic calligraphy, making it a distinctive cultural symbol of the Hui people.
Niwawu, a popular folk instrument in Ningxia, is an edge-blown aerophone. Known by various names, it is especially prevalent in Xihai-Gu. Originating from earthen instruments, it is named for its "wu wu wa wa" sound.
